The genre we picked is a very competitive area with so many new media technologies and the effects on films these days it will be a struggle to stand up to many action films. With films such as Jarhead making a loss in gross profit of around 7 and a half million dollars it is very clear it is a hard market to win in, but films such as Wanted making a 59 million dollar profit if you do get it right, it can be very very good.
To research into the viewers of these films i have found some tables of cinema views, showing age, gender and class, this is done by surveys and allows us to see what kind of films are prefered by who, at what age or gender and potentially why.
firstly i have Jar head.
This table has shown me that this action film is male dominated in cinema views, it has had the most views by 45+ which is suprising as action is generally aimed at 15-24 year olds but it is only a 2% decrease from 45+ showing that there was still a large number of people viewing this film from this age group this is common in action films as they are generally more enjoyed by the male population.
This table is showing the results for the film wanted
Wanted here has shown the common trends of a action film, the same genre we are aiming at, it shows that the film views were mainly male dominated with 65% views to males, and a huge 47% of viewers were from the ages 15-24, the film was rated as 18 so this shows ratings from 18-24 year olds 47% were in this boundary. These figueres show that the genre of action has moulded itself around there audience.
